Many supervisor interfaces are being redesigned to make them easier to use and provide additional functionality. This major overhaul is being rolled out in incremental steps as each area is updated. This article describes some of the more major changes that have already been released, and how to make the changes visible to you. This article will be updated as new features come online.
To allow you to try some of this new functionality, a 'New Style' toggle switch in the top-right corner of the CATI Supervisor UI exists. By enabling this setting, those areas which have already been updated will be shown. Turning this toggle switch off reverts the user interface to the existing manner you may be used to.
With the 'New Style' enabled, you will be able to see the following improvements discussed below.
Survey List
The Surveys list has seen some major improvements to improve your workflow. This section highlights these changes.
Filtering
The Surveys list has been improved to include more powerful options (when filters are added, you will now see filter 'chips' appear, showing a summary of the applied filters).
You can either use the X button to remove the filter, or use the 'eye' button to temporarily disable the seleted filter. The eye button only appears when you hover over the filter chip.
Additional information
Several useful columns have been added to the Surveys list to be able to get a better high-level overview of the status of samples in each survey, as well as key settings that are enabled:
Scheduling – shows which scheduling definition is currently applied to each survey
Dial mode – shows the current dial mode that the survey is operating in (that is, Manual, Preview, Predictive or Automatic)
More status counts are included to show the total number of samples, and also how many of those sample contacts are Fresh Samples, Scheduled, Complete or Actively being interviewed.
New buttons are added to make it quicker to access the survey view tabs or the Call Management interface
Context menus
The context menus in the Surveys list have been updated so they make it easier to understand which operations can be applied in bulk. For example, if a single survey is selected, then the full list of operations is presented. However, if several surveys are selected, a shorter list of operations (which may be applied in bulk) is presented. For example, for a single selected survey, the context menu might show:
Where multiple surveys have been selected, the context menu reduces in size to show only those operations that can be performed in bulk to the selected surveys:
Survey Close and Shutdown
The close and shutdown operations are now consolidated into a single menu operation where the supervisor is also able to gain, at a glance, understanding of how many interviewers are currently actively working on each survey.
Note: The old 'Shutdown' operation is now simply applied by checking the Force instant closure checkbox.
Survey View Tabs
The Survey View tabs are also in the process of being updated and these changes will be communicated over the coming months. Currently, the General and Dialer tabs have changed.
The tabs now automatically save changes as you alter them. A 'saved' indicator is shown to confirm any changes you make. Previously you would have needed to click a save button to apply any changes you made.
There is a handy shortcut link to Edit the survey in Survey Designer (this is only shown to users with the applicable 'Professional' user role for editing surveys; regular supervisors will not see this).
The Survey View tabs now open to occupy more of the screen to provide visibility to more information without having to resize the pane. To return to the Surveys list, click the Back button '<', or the Surveys tab at the top of the screen.
The General tab
The general tab has been re-organized so that metrics are all represented with graphical icons across the top (more statistics will be provided in due course). We are currently implementing the new menus for configuring quota balancing and cluster quota settings (this will appear in the next few weeks). We are also adding a new menu option to be able to adjust the survey dial mode (currently this can only be adjusted in the survey authoring applications).
The Dialer settings tab
Thew new Dialer settings tab has been updated so that all the dialer settings are more logically organized into a single area (with some of the more advanced dialer settings moving over from the General tab).
The Summary tab
We are currently working on an updated Summary tab which will add the following improvements (this is to be deployed to production in the next few weeks):
A bar graph to be able to to more easily compare the performance of different survey dispositions
Additional columns to show how the total sample counts break down for the 'Enabled', 'Disabled', and 'Disabled by Quota' status categories.
A link for each disposition which will open the Call Management interface to show the actual records for the selected status (Call Management will be automatically opened pre-filtered by the selected status).
